Türkiye’s Sweet Products Industry Maintains Its Strength in Global Markets

Türkiye’s rich sweet-making heritage, strong manufacturing capabilities, and diverse product portfolio continue to support its presence in global markets. From traditional Turkish delight and halva to chocolate and confectionery, cakes, biscuits, and other sweet products, the industry today reaches approximately 198 countries worldwide.

The 2025 figures highlight the scale of Türkiye’s sweet products industry in international markets. Exports reached approximately 1.18 million tons and USD 4.55 billion during the year. Compared with an export value of USD 3.92 billion in 2024, the increase to USD 4.55 billion in 2025 marked an important development in the industry’s global performance.

A Diverse World from Traditional Sweets to Modern Products

One of the key strengths of Türkiye’s sweet products industry is its ability to combine a long-established production heritage with modern product categories.

In 2025, exports of cakes, biscuits, and similar products reached approximately USD 1.73 billion, while cocoa-containing products stood out with an export value of USD 1.41 billion. Cocoa-free sugar confectionery generated approximately USD 902 million in exports.

Cocoa-containing products showed particularly notable growth, with their export value increasing from approximately USD 946 million in 2024 to more than USD 1.4 billion in 2025.

Türkiye’s strong position in key ingredients such as sugar, hazelnuts, pistachios, and dried fruits also supports this product diversity. From traditional recipes to new-generation products, this rich ingredient base contributes to the industry’s ability to address different markets and changing consumer expectations.

Türkiye’s Sweet Products Around the World

Türkiye’s sweet products exports reach a broad geography stretching from the Middle East to North America and from Europe to North Africa.

In 2025, Iraq was the largest export market with approximately USD 719 million, followed by the United States with USD 551 million. Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Libya, Syria, and Italy were also among the leading export markets.

This broad geographic reach demonstrates the ability of Türkiye’s diverse product portfolio to connect with different consumer cultures while creating a strong foundation for further international expansion.

A Diverse Performance Across Product Categories in 2026

The 2026 figures point to varying export performances across different product categories.

In July 2026, Türkiye’s exports of cocoa-containing products reached approximately USD 100 million, while sugar and sugar confectionery exports stood at approximately USD 99 million. Compared with the same month of the previous year, exports declined by 20.12% in cocoa-containing products and by 5.89% in sugar and sugar confectionery.

At the same time, the latest 12-month figures show why the industry’s performance should not be evaluated solely in terms of export volume. The export unit value of cocoa-containing products increased by 3.68% compared with the previous 12-month period.

Changing consumer expectations, growing health awareness, and demand for innovative products are also among the factors shaping the industry’s transformation.

Türkiye’s Sweet World Continues Its Global Journey

Today, Türkiye’s sweet products industry brings together its deep-rooted production culture with modern manufacturing technologies, a diverse product portfolio, and an extensive international network.

With USD 4.55 billion in exports in 2025, a market presence spanning approximately 198 countries, and manufacturing capabilities across a wide range of product categories, Türkiye continues to strengthen its presence in global markets.

Sweet Türkiye continues to support the industry’s international journey by strengthening the global visibility of Türkiye’s confectionery culture, manufacturing capabilities, and product diversity.
